Living With a Cochlear Implant :
Medical Procedures
There are several medical procedures that are not recommended with a cochlear implant.
These include MRI, electrosurgery, therapeutic diathermy, neurostimulation, electro-convulsive therapy and the use of electric lice combs.
Several other procedures are not recommended near the implant site including ultrasound, TENS or electrolysis.
You should always contact the clinic for advice if you are about to undergo any medical treatment or MRI scanning. Further details can be found at www.bcig.org
