Having a Cochlear Implant : Benefits and Limitations

A cochlear implant CANNOT restore normal hearing.

It provides the user with a hearing sensation which relieves the isolation of being profoundly deaf.

It enables children to develop spoken language and improves communication skills.

It facilitates education and in many cases allows children to attend mainstream school.

For adults, it restores confidence, enabling them to achieve their potential in life and employment.
